Psychiatric Program
When a patient has a psychiatric diagnosis, UHHS offers a psychiatric home care program. Our certified psychiatric nurse provides psychiatric assessment, medication teaching and monitoring, and establishes a therapeutic regimen. The nurse will also perform necessary lab draws to monitor for drug toxicity and therapeutic drug levels. Psychiatric home care allows the patient to stay in the least restrictive setting, their home, and is aimed at preventing rehospitalization and promoting their physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The psychiatric home care nurse works with our social worker to provide a bridge of care with the community that helps to improve the patient’s quality of life at home.
